Questions about life in Houston

My sister and her husband and baby are moving to Houston in a few weeks which means they need lots of help with the things that come with relocating.

She's looking for the following:

pediatrician, midwife, optometrist, GP, vet, Catholic church.....that's all I can think of right now.

They'll be on the NW side of the city. If y'all have any recs that would be great!

Re: Questions about life in Houston

  • I grew up on the North side of Houston, but I only have a few recs for her......

Eye doctor was Dr. Donald J. Norcini......I started going to him when I was in the fifth grade and as of two years ago still drove to Houston for appts/contacts every year.

Growing up we attended St. Maximilian Catholic Church, but my family that is still in Houston now attends Prince of Peace.

  • I LOVED my pedi in Houston--Dr. Richard Thaller.  He's located at I-10 and Campbell Road, so that could work for her, depending on how North she is.  Even if it's a bit of a drive, I'd recommend it.  He's amazing, and his office is terrific--you always get a nurse when you call, they keep to their appt times amazingly well, are always on top of things like phoning in prescriptions, etc.  He has a partner, too, that some friends used and liked, but I never saw her.

My other recs may be too central, but I also loved my vet--Montrose Vet. Clinic, right near Montrose and W. Gray.  My eye doctor was good, too.  She was on 19th St. in the Heights.  I used an OB, not a midwife, and she was down in the Med Center which is a hike from the NW.  I'm happy to give that info too, if she'd like.

    Good luck to her!

  • My NW Houston catholic friends attend St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.
