Cramping question

I've had some not crazy painful but definitely noticeable menstrual like cramping the last few days. Saturday night I had two in the middle of the night that woke me up. Since then I have up to 6 or 7 of those a day and they last anywhere from 10-30 seconds.

My baby is moving around plenty, she hasn't dropped yet or anything like that nor is there really a pattern to my cramps. They just come and go throughout the day.

Last time I saw my doc and told her that when I get stressed I may feel a cramp here and there she wasn't concerned one bit. I have an appointment tomorrow and do plan on telling her. But do you think I need to call today already, I don't know if it really makes much of a difference?

What is your experience with cramps like this? I'm not freaking out at all but am wondering if I should call or not. Which I know, if I feel the need I should call :)

Just would like to hear if you have been experiencing anything like this and what the outcome may have been. I don't want to be too relaxed about this and maybe miss something major.

TIA!!!

Re: Cramping question

  • I am pretty much exactly as far along as you and have recently started getting what feels like menstrual cramps.  I was at my OB's yesterday and she said everything I am feeling is normal.  It has a lot to do with continued stretching and the baby's position (hitting nerves, etc.).

If you are going to your doctor tomorrow, I would just mention it to her then but if you are really worried about it or have noticed anything else new (discharge/any bleeding) then you should obviously call ASAP.

Sometimes it is just nice to be reassured that the crazy/weird things we are feeling are completely normal :)

Thanks! :) Yeah I figured it's probably all still growing and adjusting. I'm really not too worried but it did get me thinking a bit, too since we've had so many early arrivals on this board. Hearing that you are as far along as I am, are experiencing the same stuff and everything is order definitely makes me feel better :)

I don't have any bleeding or discharge or any other symptoms that may indicate early labor so I think I"m safe waiting until tomorrow.

    Thanks much! :)

  • I am in the same boat...  My doc told me to only call or come in if the cramps start happining 10 minutes apart or closer.

  • I woke up with the same feeling, like I was just about to get my period, yesterday morning. I called OB after drinking a ton of water and doing kick counts and all that crap, and she sent me to L&D for monitoring. Turned out to be contractions every 3 minutes apart, but after 5 hours they hadn't affected my dilation or anything. I was told if they get more severe to go back to the hospital, but if not, they were nothing to worry about for now. Hope that helps ya!

  • My period cramps were always in my low back, and only when they were really bad did they get to be more uterus crampy feeling.  I've been getting low dull achy backaches for a few weeks now that feel just like my old period cramps, but I'm sure it's just my exhausted muscles from carrying around this baby all day.

If there's no other early labor symptoms, I wouldn't be immediately concerned. But it is something to just breifly mention to the doc. No reason why you can't keep those lines of communication open!

  • I get cramps all the time now. They don't come and go. I will feel crampy for a good 30 min straight. I had to take some tylenol last night so I could get some sleep. I had cramps and she was a party baby. I couldn't get comfortable at all!

  • I am 34+1 and I started getting cramps a few weeks ago.  When I notice it, it's while I am having a BH and then when the BH is gone.. it goes as well.  Seems to be normal to me.
