Has anyone had any experience with their LO regressing with sleep? My DD was able to put herself to sleep for naps and at bedtime for about a month and all of the sudden it has stopped. She needs to be nursed or comforted before going to sleep. She is also only comforted by me, DH picks her up and she just cries & cries until I come into the room. She's also waking up more frequently at night when she used to only wake up once or twice. Anyone else experiencing this? Any ideas, tips on how to handle this? I'm guessing I have to re-sleep train? (we did pu/pd method).
Re: Sleep regression at 8 months?
Chloe started doing this last week. The first two nights were horrible. Finally we figured out that she needed to sorta decompress before going to sleep. Since she is so much more aware of everything going on and wants to be part of it all I think she has trouble transitioning to sleeping.
We found that she needs a few minutes of quiet time in a darkened room. It has worked perfectly for both naps and bedtime. We go into (usually) her room with the lights out (shades drawn during the day) and I hold her and sway a little bit. I'll say a few things to her in a soothing voice, like 'we had so much fun splashing in the bath tonight'. Then I say nothing for a minute or so and just lay her down. The only time she cried when being put down was this afternoon and it was less than a minute before she stopped and went to sleep. Hope that helps.
