Hi, I'm popping over from PAIF..
Anyone measure behind at their first few u/s? Is this somewhat normal?I had an u/s last Friday (7w2d), but was measuring 6w4d. HB was 136 and doc said that was good, but can't help but worry about baby measuring behind.

u/s measurements are given in a +/- # of days. So, if your average was 6w5d then it was probably +/- 3-5 days putting you in a good range. The difference in days is in millimeters right now so it's easy to be off by a few days just by the placement of the measurements, angle of the baby etc.
Also, it's an average, babies grow at different rates on the inside just like on the outside. Sounds like you had a good u/s with a good heart rate, congrats momma. I know it's nerve wracking.

Thanks KRYN...nerve racking is an understatement! Hopefully he/she is just petite (unlike mama) and all else will continue ok.
Thanks again!
For my latest u/s the 1st measurement the doctor took it had me a few days behind, very similar to yours, the doctor changed the angle slightly and measured again and it was dead on. It is impossible not to worry but measurements can be slightly off. Good luck.
