Uh Oh I think we may be done with naps....

It occured to DH and I yesterday that W may be done napping.  It's been over a week and a half since he's actualy slept at nap time.  He still goes in to his room and he'll play quitely or read stories but he is not sleeping.

I'm so sad....I  really love nap time!  But now I think we need to adjust his schedule so he goes to bed earlier which is also sad to me.  We get to spend less time with him after day care and when we do, he is so grumpy because he's tired.

Any other tips from anyone who's made the transition to no naps?

  • we are right there too - except mine won't play quietly in his room. I try to plan a quiet activity during that time, I think it's perfectly acceptable to keep nap time and have it "quiet time" in his room.

I hadn't thought about moving bed earlier... maybe we need to do that.

  • We didn?t change bedtime, but somedays I think we need to move it back. Or DH needs to calm down the playtime starting at 7:00 instead of 7:54. There is a huge difference in bedtime experiences when it?s just me and when daddy is home.  I guess that?s all the advice I have: limit tickle fights and running up and down the hallway to at least an hour before desired bedtime.

Sorry he dropped them. N?s been mostly napfree for over a year. Some weekends he?ll nap in the car in the late afternoon.  I think it's great W lasted this long and hopefully the new baby will wear him out.

    I miss naps.

  • You are so lucky to have made it this far! Max was done by two. We did move bedtime earlier on days he didn't nap during the transition. The only nice part is it's easier to do stuff out and about because you don't have to worry about being home for nap! I also highly recommend keeping a "quiet time" routine so everyone gets a break.
