3rd Trimester

Bra help please!!!

So I still have about 2 and a half months to go and I desperately need to go up a size or 2 in bras.

Do I just buy a nursing bra now?

or

Where can I get a cheap bras that I will only wear for 2ish months???  by cheap I would like to stay at or under $15.  Is that possible?  or should I just splurge??  but don't really want to splurge for something I will only wear for 2months

  • I went ahead and bought nursing bras.  I found a deal at Motherhood Maternity where it was buy 3 get 1 free and the bras were about $20.  I was also returning a top my MIL bought for me so essentially I got 4 nursing bras for $40!  Which I was totally excited about.

  • Just get a cheap regular bra in whatever size fits you now.

I wouldn't buy nursing bras yet since there's no way to know what size you're going to need after your milk comes in.  It's best to wait a few weeks for your supply to regulate first.  In the meantime, you can get by with nursing tanks and sleep style nursing bras where sizing doesn't need to be as exact.  Target does have some good, affordable ones.

  • I got some nursing bras from Motherhood that I've been wearing for the past 4.5 months and will continue to wear sometime post-partum. Bra extenders are a life-saver!! I would totally invest in those, no matter what size bra you get.

I got this exact deal as well.  I still wonder about the milk coming in part and hoping that they will fit right, but the lady told me at the store that you don't want to get bras after milk comes in because of engorgement.  I am a FTM so I don't know if this is exactly true or not, but I listened to her.  She better be right.

  • I went ahead and got nursing bras because I know after my first, my boobs changed sizes like 3 times while nursing (huge when my milk came in and for a few months after, medium sized around ~4/5 months post partum, and normal sized once I was only nursing am and pm.)  Having bras in various sizes helped as they grew during pregnancy and shrank again after.
  • motherhood maternity works wonders for me! i got mine off amazon, and i ordered the full coverage so i'll be covered when my postpartum bra size fluctuates. It's SO comfy, I like it better than my sports bra! I only paid $20 for it, and I'm planning on getting a few more!
  • Thanks a lot!!  I will check out target.  and the Bra extenders sound wonderful!

Do they sell the bra extenders at target to?  Can't believe I have never heard of them!

  • yes they sell bra extenders at target, but if you can't find them, the plus size stores always do (lane bryant etc).  I've been living in my target nursing/sleep bras since 28 weeks.  I love how comfortable they are.  Plus I'll have something to get me by until the milk comes in.  They are $22 for a set of 2.  GL!!!

  • Walmart also has nursing bras for cheap.  I've always worn bras w/ underwires and now they are uncomfortable so I had to buy non-wired bras.  I went ahead and bought nursing bras-  I figured if they fit when I'm nursing great I get more wear out of them.  If not- no loss.

She meant that you shouldn't get bras right after your milk comes in, not that you shouldn't buy them at all after your milk comes in.  You will be engorged at first, that's why in my reply I said that it's best to wait a few weeks for your supply to regulate.

  • I too am rocking well-priced Motherhood bras. I also am a huge fan of the much pricier, but so worth it Bravado Bliss bra. You can really feel the difference, but like PP have mentioned, wait until after your first week or so of nursing to see how big you'll end up.

  • If your cup size still seems ok you can buy extenders at walmart or target, they are only $4.00 and they will buy you some more time before getting the full out nursing bras.

I got mine from Amazon for just a few bucks. They're so small, they just came in a normal size envelope. They come in various colors & sizes. I bought my maternity bras, which cup-wise fit great but the rest was digging into my back so the extenders really helped!
