I finally got some christmas shopping done this morning. Now I need to hide the loot before I go pick up my big girl. I was thinking my closet, but she likes to go in there and play dress up sometimes. Or the garage, but it's yucky in there.
So, I'm doing what any reasonable person would, I'm asking the Bumpies my silly question. Where do you store your unwrapped Christmas gifts so the kids don't see them?
Re: Where do you hide the presents?
I don't have that issue yet. We gave Sparky his Christmas present a month ago (bouncer thingy). When I was younger, my parents used to hide our gifts at the neighbor's house, or in my uncle's attic. We couldn't get up there without them knowing, and its not a place I ever wanted to play as they had a 2 story house and I was afraid of heights. My aunt kept my cousins' stuff at her office.
Bonus for hiding at someone else's house was that we'd go to my Godmother's for Xmas eve and when we got home late that night, Santa had already passed (i.e. my uncle or neighbor had come over and put our presents under the tree and our stockings out. We got to open our stockings then, but had to wait until morning to open the presents.
they are in the guest room closet.
my mom used to keep them in her car trunk. i'll never forget one year my brother and i found them before christmas and she told us she was taking them all back. pretty sure she didn't, but she was pissed!
Wrapped under the tree.
If it was just a temporary hiding spot (a day or so), I would keep them in the garage or in the trunk of my car. But I purposely wrap presents and get them under the tree as soon as possible so I don't have to worry about them being unintentionally discovered.
Thanks all!
I didn't think about our guest room closet, that's perfect for now. And I'll get all but the Santa gifts wrapped and under the tree later this week. Feels good to have a plan. :-)
