Cradle Cap

DS#2 has the WORST cradle cap I've ever seen. Awful. You get it out and it grows back the next day. DS#1 had it but you could get the scales out and it was done. No biggie. This guy, goodness, it's driving me crazy. Suggestions that have worked for others???

Re: Cradle Cap

  • DD has only just recently had problems with this. Olive oil seems to help a lot. And then just brushing her scalp ALL THE TIME with a soft brush.

  • We never dealt with it, but Holly's pedi recommended massaging her scalp with a soft brush whenever we shampooed her hair to prevent it. We did that, so maybe that's why she never got it! :-)

  • My DD had cradle cap. I know this is goind to sound crazy but we used Zwitsal Haarlotion (spelling is correct). It is from Holland. A coworkers wife is from Holland and they gave me a whole set of the Zwitsal baby products. I would shampoo her hair with a soft brush and then put the lotion on it. Its actually more watery than lotion. But it cleared her cradle cap up in about 2 weeks and we kept using it tell they were about 5 months old. The products are actually made by a foreign division of Sara Lee. You can buy it online at https://www.hollandsbest.com/drugstore/zwitsal.php

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one dealing with it!! Liam has it, though it's not terribly bad. But Wesley - he's got ecxema now, and cradle cap to go with it...it is SO hard to get rid of it since he's got a head full of hair. My pedi recommended using a small amount of Head and Shoulders now that he's 2, but before that, they recommended olive oil and a soft brush.
  • Aquaphor and brushing my daughters scalp helped for us!

  • As recommended by our pediatrician, we purchased a bottle of this https://www.amazon.com/Sebulex-Medicated-Dandruff-Shampoo/dp/B0011EIZI8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1323899754&sr=8-3 and used a small amount, lathered it in and then rinsed and brushed hair.  Literally, cradle cap was gone within 3 treatments.  We have a ton of it left.  I couldn't find a smaller bottle.  I didn't buy it on amazon.  I found it at a local family owned drug store.  Good luck.
