C turns 1 on Jan 20th (holysheet), and I have to take yet another week-long work trip January 7-13. I'm going to attempt dropping my one pumping session this week. I'm wondering if a month is enough time to wean the morning/evening sessions as well. Since I will return home on the 13th, I'm not sure if pumping that week would be worth it just for another week of nursing before I start trying to wean from the morning and evening sessions. WWYD?
Also, if I were to read about weaning, what would be a good resource to go to? Kellymom?
Re: Another weaning question
So, right now you are pumping 1x a day and nursing 2x? I think you have time to wean entirely, if you'd like, especially because the holidays might help distract DS. But you can always take a hand pump in case you desperately need it. Our weaning was based on a trip timeline as well and C was completely weaned for one whole week before we left. I dropped one pumping/nursing session a week and had no problems at all, even in that last week.
Yes, a month is enough time if you are only nursing/pumping 3x per day. What are you transitioning to? WCM? Would you start the WCM transition now or do you have a BM stash? Weaning DD1 was easy, she transitioned with very little problems, even with continuting to nurse in the mornning/evening. Weaning DD2 to WCM (with nursing in the morn/evening) has been really hard. She hasn't *taken* to WCM so she drinks some, but not a lot and still wants to nurse at night. Just wanted to put that out there - the timing might be good, you migh be ready, but your DS might not be. Hopefully, you'll have the same experience I did with DD1 (easy).
