How was your weekend?

Re: How was your weekend?

  • We had a nice weekend.

Saturday we met up with my SIL and neice at yankee candle factory, browsed around a bit and let the kids play, then went to cracker barrel for lunch. After quiet time at home we made gingerbread cookies (that came out looking ca-razy), took a drive to see a pretty light display, then home for dinner and Frosty the Snowman.  It was a very season-appropriate day :)

Sunday we went to Church. Then i dropped DW and the big kids off at home for lunch and rest while Daisy and I braved the mall.  it was crazy crowded (i felt bad for all the moms trying to push their strollers through the crowds...thank you babywearing!) but we successfully obtained DW's gift and a couple other things.  When I got home, i got the kids up and we did step 1 of the handprint-snowman-ornament pinterest craze.  Then it was off to the playground for a chilly play time followed by picking my car up from getting an oil change.  My brother came over for dinner (which the kids loved) and then helped tuck them all into bed.

  • My best friend is visiting from California, so she came over over Saturday morning and stayed until just before lunch on Sunday. So we mostly relaxed and gabbed.

Sunday afternoon/evening we made two different kinds of dog biscuits, which we did last year too. We wrap them and give them to friends with dogs. I think its going to be a tradition.

I too wore DD in and out of stores all weekend.  However we had our first babywearing accident.  We were in the checkout at the grocery store and I had my back turned (with BabyT*T on the back) to the cashier as I was leaning into my cart and putting items on the conveyor belt.  Well unbeknownst to be, DD grabbed my lemonade off the conveyor belt, lost her grip and the glass went crashing to the floor.  Fortunately the person in front of us got neither soaked nor hurt. I guess I forgot what a long reach my child has. :-p

  • Friday: J came home from work after only a few hours and we got ready to run errands. While she was paying her cell phone bill she told me to look  at the phones and then asked which one I wanted for my birthday!  The rest of the day was low key, we bought a few Christmas presents and then went to visit J's family later in the day.

Saturday: My 30th birthday! Thanks for all the birthday wishes.  We didn't do anything, J was really sick and we plan to celebrate next weekend. We ended up at her parents house again in the evening.

Sunday: J worked in the morning and I tried to clean while taking care of the kids, it's tough with 2 little ones.  J and I went to the Chipotle manager Christmas party in the evening and really enjoyed ourselves, we danced and hung out with her old crew. After the party we had to pick the kids up and took them home to bed.

  • We went to Whistler B.C. this weekend and had a great trip. We left home Wednesday night and spent the night at my Nana's place along the way. Thursday we left our dog there and headed up and arrived at our lodge at 4pm. We rented snowboards and then walked around the Village, which was all lit up for the holidays.

Friday we went snowboarding. It was my first time and C was amazingly supportive and patient with me. I had much more fun than I thought I would, but did end up falling a lot. We went out to a cute little wood-fire pizza place that does local and organic stuff and I had an amazing salad. Then I spent some time in the sauna and a hot bath afterward and we went to bed early!

Saturday we relaxed most of the day (we would have gone up again but I was really sore, C had a headache and it was low visibility--not good for a newbie). We walked around, checked out Blackcomb (including the hotel where the L Word was filmed) and had a lovely Japanese dinner.

Sunday we got packed up and walked around some more. Got some more pictures and gifts for a few people before leaving Whistler. We stopped in a little town along the highway and explored a bit before heading South to Vancouver. We stopped for dinner at a great Indian cafe and then headed back to get our dog, see my Nana for a bit and then head home.

  • I went to holiday parties for work clients on both Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday's party was a bit disappointing and full of awkward.  Sunday's party was awesome.  A wealthy bar donated a ton of money, crafts, food, volunteers, etc. in addition to the usual thriftiness and dedication of our staff, and it came out great.  I got to see a few families I had to pass off to co-workers when I got promoted, which was fun.

DW and I also went to my favorite holiday market, I spent many hours accomplishing most of our Christmas shopping online, and I watched (taste tested!) DW make about 9 bazillion kinds of Christmas cookies.  We're officially in the spirit, except our tree is still not up!

  • On Saturday morning I went grocery-and-Costco shopping with a friend while Jen got her hair cut. Spent most of the rest of the day cleaning out our three closets and packing stuff we won't need for the next few months, setting stuff aside for Goodwill, and reorganizing the stuff we put back in. (Jen sat nearby cuddling a dog and offering her opinion on what to do with stuff. Smile) I made salmon burgers and rice pilaf for dinner and did a bunch of laundry while we watched TV.

Sunday morning I went for a run - it was freezing but sunny. Afterward I moved the boxes we had packed to the basement, and only dropped one of them, and managed not to fall or hurt myself on the crazy-steep, rickety stairs. In the afternoon we ran a bunch of errands, including dropping off Goodwill donations, dropping off Toys for Tots donations, picking up the personal stuff from Jen's office, and exchanging dog sweaters my friends gave me for larger sizes. We attempted to go shopping for maternity tops but traffic and everything was too crazy with Christmas shoppers. We met a friend for dinner (lemon saketini, mmmm) and crashed shortly after getting home.

  • Friday: We got take-out from the Asian restaurant down the street, watched Rachel Maddow, and laughed a lot about the Republican candidates. They ARE funny.

Saturday: Hung out with J in the a.m., got our Christmas tree in the early p.m., and went to a friend's 50th birthday dinner in the early evening. The two other couples there have teen kids, and they were all thrilled to have a little one around as "entertainment". It was really fun.

Sunday: My hopes for an Italian lunch of melted cheese on top of melted cheese were dashed as the place we went to didn't open until 3. (What??????) We ended up at RedBones, which offered no desirable form of melted cheese but was awesome nonetheless. Then, we went Christmas shopping - I bought the ornament exchange gift! - and in the evening we had dinner with J's godmother. Smile

  • L was off writing for her last weekend of 2011. Thank goodness.

Friday lazy night at home. The kids were all into their Explorer game which gave me some quiet time.

Saturday the kids had swimming and then we did the unspeakable errands of the holidays - mall and post office. Took them to a used book sale where we stocked up on Star Wars books and then out for burgers. By 4pm the kids were bathed and in pjs. They played around while I got Christmas decorations out and worked on Christmas cards. We watched Elf, which I thought was funnier than they did. Both kids were passed out by 7:15. I love no nap days!

Sunday we were at Target at 8am when they opened to get gifts for the kids' secret pals. I tried to get them to go see The Muppets, but no one was interested and everyone wanted to come home and decorate the tree. So we did. The kids took a nap while I puttered around the house all day wrapping secret pal gift, doing laundry, finishing up cards, blah, blah, blah.

I have today off. I went to the grocery store  and home to wrap the kids' gifts while they are in school. I was looking forward to a quiet house, but our contractor just showed up to do some repair work. Boo. I am meeting L in a bit to go see a movie before we pick up the kids and take them to a birthday party!

  • Friday was super low key although we got awesome news...my DW finally was awarded her Master's!!!  She doesnt know it yet but she is getting a massage as a present as soon as I can get two minutes away from her to get the certificate. We were both beat from being sick early in the week and just chilled in front of the TV.  I think I mustered enough energy to make a waffle for dinner.

Saturday we took my Mom and Granny went grocery shopping then went out to lunch.  We were going to go to a movie but decided to get our grocery shopping out of the way and rent some movies.  We had a very chill movie/cuddle night at home.  It is so nice not havine any school work going on in our house for the next 8 weeks.

Sunday we finished one of the movies from the night before and went to some friends house for a late lunch/Ravens game.  Good company as usual.  We then decided to do some shopping and got a few little things we have been needing to pick up plus I went and bought my ornament exchange gift which was fun.

Relaxing weekend other than the fact that they finally mailed the grad school decision letters on Friday and I am WAITING again.  Plus we should start TWW again towards the end of the week.

We had three BFN in the Fall of 2011. It is back on to some baby making come June. Swim little fellas, SWIM!!!!
  • Friday night I picked up a tired E from school. We got takeout and watched a Christmas movie at home.

Saturday E slept in until 8:45 Big Smile. This is unheard of! Unfortunately I had been awake since about 7:15. Grr. We had a lazy morning and headed to the tree farm in the afternoon. Picked out a great tree which I sawed down by.my.self. We stopped for groceries on the way home. The tree is in the house, but no decorations yet!

Sunday we made a trip to the store (insanity!) for a birthday present for E's friend and a gift for the toy drive E's school does. We spent the afternoon assembling a gingerbread house. E had SO much fun doing it. I never got to do one as a kid, so I really enjoyed it and seeing her face light up was awesome.

  • This weekend was all chores, errands, and crafting.  Friday night C went to Karate while I worked on some Christmas ornaments while watching bad TV.  Saturday we literally ran errands almost all day - a little bit of Christmas shopping, a stop at Target for some storage boxes, grocery shopping, a Goodwill drop off, Hobby Lobby for some ornament supplies.  When we got home I did a little organizing and then we watched a movie.  Sunday we spent a bunch of time working around the house, cleaning and sorting stuff for the move.  Then we had friends over for a great pizza dinner.  Their son is 2 1/2 and I had so much fun with him.  He helped me make the pizza and is just generally adorable.

  • I have absolutely no recollection of what I did Friday.  I know my mom was taking care of E and I went right home after school.  What i made for dinner and if we did anything else is a mystery.  I think I may have been in a coma and after having a bowl pasta I went to bed shortly after E.

Sat We all went to get a tree in the am.  E and I hung out at home while S was at the library. She came home for a bit and then went out to her grad school holiday party.  We put lights on the tree but didn't put any ornaments up yet.  Next weekend hopefully.  That night E and I stayed home watched Frosty and had pizza.

Sunday S was back at the library and my parents came to watch E while I tutored. My mom brought us dinner so I didn't have to cook.

Wow that was a lame weekend.
