I have started to believe that having 2 kids birthday on the same day is at least twice the work of just one. Their party was yesterday, DS begged to have it at home and this was our first time. We only had 8 kids plus my 2 plus the Moms. They wanted a Dora and Diego theme (well they wanted Diego but I added Dora to make it match my kids better) and they wanted to decorate t-shirts so I used the iron-on stuff to make a ton of different Dora and Diego patches patches and the kids used fabric paint to decorate the shirts and I ironed on patches wherever they wanted them and then used a hair dryer to try to dry them some before sending them home. I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting with Dora candy cupcake toppers and chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes with Diego candy cupcake toppers for DS. The party was from 10 until 12 and then my Mom came around 1 and my SIL and nieces came at 3, when my brother came at 6pm DD cried hysterical and wanted nothing to do with them.
The kids had a blast though and are still coloring the cardboard house their one friend gave them. Today I dragged them out to take photos and tonight their gifts are all wrapped. I cannot wait until tomorrow for their real birthday but have to admit that I also cannot wait for it to be over so that I can relax and then move onto Christmas. December is my fav month between the kids' birthday and Christmas but it is also stressful with so much to do.
Now I am off to sleep.
Re: Tomorrow is the kid's birthday and I am exhausted
Mine were exhausted, too. DD had to be put down for a nap and she slept for 3 hours with a party carrying on outside her door. She still went to bed at her usual time, too.
Thankfully, I packed almost all of my Christmas shopping into the crazed 8 days before the party, so all I have to do is wrap presents and decorate the tree.
WTF were we thinking having 2 December babies 2 years apart? LOL
DS - December 2006
DD - December 2008
I only have one December baby and I'm tired. I can't imagine two. I feel like it makes for a month of party.
We had her party back last weekend - away from Christmas as much as possible - NOT in my house. I can't even imagine doing it myself. This week, we're doing cupcakes at school, on her real birthday cupcakes at daycare (she goes to daycare 3 days a week and school the other two mornings). And then it's Christmas. Crazy.
