I've been looking for eco-friendly, natural dolls for DD (i.e. made of cloth and stuffed with wool). I finally found some for a reasonable price. One of brands is anatomically correct. This made me pause and think. Part of me says it's natural for a child to learn the anatomy of both sexes, but part of me is a prude and thinks my daughter is too young to have a male doll with "all his parts." Anyway, I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on this.

(mommy wants to see ittybittybabybitties)
DS has an anatomically correct male doll (came from a sort of "crunchy" independent book store in our town). It's kind of a soft stuffed doll - not plastic - I think it's fine - and honestly he never did make much of the penis... just kind of looked at it a few times and went about his business like "oh yeah, i've got one of those".
Anyway - I chose "depends" because I think at the toddler age I would give the child a same sex anatomically correct doll - but probably would wait a bit to give an opposite sex one... no need to start those questions any earlier than they'll come on their own.
That being said I don't think it is wrong or bad to do it - just what I would do yet.
I just remembered that when I was about 5 I got a set of b/g twin babydolls for christmas that were really anatomically correct - they were that plastic that sort of feels like skin. I remember thinking they were weird - and I also remember my BFF always wanting to look at their parts
she's still a weirdo (kidding)
