Anyone else have a subchorionic hemorrhage?

I was diagnosed with a SCH at 9 weeks. I had been having spotting which changed to bright red bleeding, so the doctor scheduled an ultrasound for me and the SCH was discovered. It was small - just 1 cm, so my doctor wasn't overly concerned and said it would probably resolve itself.

Well, the spotting continued until my next appointment at 12 weeks, so the doctor had me go in for another ultrasound and unfortunately, the SCH had gotten bigger - it was 2.7 cm. My doctor put me on pelvic rest and told me to take it easy and call if anything changed or the spotting turned red again, but otherwise we would just wait for my anatomy scan at 20 weeks.

Well, I can't stop worrying about it. And waiting until my 20 week a/s is a LONG time. I haven't really felt the baby move yet much (maybe once or twice I thought I felt something - I know it's early yet to feel anything), so I don't have that to reassure me either. Has anyone else dealt with this? Or had an SCH that resolved itself?

I did... Mine started bleeding at 12.5 weeks at the time it was about 4cm.  It was bright red bleeding for about 3-4 days and then brown bleeding for nearly 6 weeks. It finally reduced to spotting and then stopped at 18.5 weeks.

I had my a/s at 18w 5d and they said they could see where the SCH was, but that it looked like it was gone.

We had a SCH during this pregnancy, with bleeding starting at 6 weeks.  My MD took me out of work to rest, and finally put me on strict bed rest at 12 weeks, because she said if the bleeding is not stopped before 16 weeks, you can have a higher risk of pre-term labor.  Well, God and the strict bed rest finally helped stop the bleeding!  My MD decided just keep me out of work for the remainder of the pregnancy, due to having already used up my FMLA and being high risk. We were fine with this, as long as it would help the babies.

We purchased a doppler, which has helped us a lot during this difficult time.  I hope everything goes well for you, take it easy and drink lots of water.

yes! It started with bright red bleeding Thanksgiving night, which has tapered to the occassional brown spotting. I found out the next day through an ultrasound I had a 2.7 cm tear. They told me to take it easy, no heavy lifting and pelvic rest. I had a follow up ultrasound Thursday and while it's not gone, it does not look any worse. There hasn't been any spotting since Wednesday, and that's the longest since the condition was found. They say it looks like there's a very low chance at this point of pre-term labor, thank God.

Mine was discovered at 7 weeks after some bleeding.  They put me on bed rest (though I was allowed to work from home thankfully).  When I got into the 2nd trimester the sch was still there, but they lifted the bed rest.  At 16 weeks I had another u/s and it had disapeared.  From what I've read most resolve before 20 weeks.

Me too!  Mine started out tiny but caused a bleeding episode at 6 weeks and I was put on pelvic bedrest.  I had another bleeding episode at 8 weeks and when I was checked, it had gotten so much bigger that I was put on full time bedrest for 2 weeks.  When I was checked again at 10 weeks, it was much much smaller. At my NT scan at 12 weeks, it was gone!  Good luck!

I have a large SCH that was diagnosed at 13 weeks when I experienced some pretty dramatic bleeding. The SCH was 2 x 2.7 cm in the ER and twice that size two days later on a follow up ultrasound. Two weeks later, it covered the entire cervix and posterior of my uterus. I was referred to the MFM specialist for a better look and she confirmed the size. Generally, though, she wasn't terribly concerned. While mine is large, she said it could be there for the duration - or go away in a week. I might bleed intermittently the entire time it's around - and I have been for over 6 weeks now.

LO doesn't seem fazed and was measuring a few days ahead at the MFM exam. My placenta is anterior, so the SCH doesn't seem to be putting it at risk. With the exception of a couple days rest back at 13 weeks when I was diagnosed, I've not been on any restrictions and able to do all my normal activities. I don't exercise, but that's mostly because I'm lazy.  My Doppler really helps reassure me and I'm now feeling movement, so that helps, too.

2 years TTC with 5 losses, 1 year recovering, 6 months applying for adoption approval, and almost a year waiting for a placement. Then, a miracle BFP at age 36!

I had bleeding at 11 weeks that was full on bright red, heavy bleeding and naturally thought I  was miscarrying.I went in for an ultrasound the next day and they told me I had a SCH (thank goodness!) I was out of work for a week and bled constant and heavy the entire time.. I thought it may never stop! However, 2 weeks later is was like someone turned off the faucet. It just stopped and for a few days I had brown spotting, but I haven't had a problem since and it's been 3 weeks (fingers crossed).

The last time I has an u/s was while I was still bleeding and right before Thanksgiving ,so my next appt. isn't for another week, but it seems like a lifetime! Especially when you have had hiccups along the way like SCH. I'm sure everything will be fine and stay positive!

P.S- I'm really glad you posted about this becasue I don't think many people talk about these kinds of problems. I know that when I first had my bleeding, I immediately went to the computer (which does NOT help!) and sometimes there are cases in which you have bleeding , but it may not mean anything terrible!

Good Luck to everyone! I wish everyone healthy and happy pregnancies!

No, I don't think people talk about it much either, which is sort of suprising b/c it's not THAT uncommon. It has reassured me a ton to hear all these positive stories, though! Thank you so much, ladies. I think what sucks about a condition like this is just waiting and wondering what will happen...and worrying that every little thing I do is going to make it worse or I'll suddenly start the bright red bleeding again. But I am definitely trying to stay positive and luckily my little girl keeps me pretty busy!

I had one during 1st trimester.  It was seen at 7 weeks, so I was monitored with ultrasound every 2 weeks.  It never really grew (it was around 2 cm), but never went away week after week.  Finally, as I entered 2nd tri, it just seemed to disappear!  Doctor said it reabsorbed into my body.

Although I was stressed about it, my doctor really never seemed very concerned about it.  She said most of the time they are gone by 2nd trimester, but she's seen them last throughout a pregnancy and never had a bad outcome b/c of one.
