If you have done progressive waiting in the past (or still do) and your baby is crawling and/or pulling his/her self up in the crib, what did you do? Almost every nap time is a constant battle because as soon as we put DS (8.5 months) down, he immediately gets up on all fours and crawls to the edge of the crib. He has recently started pulling himself up, so he will just cry either on all fours or standing up. Does your LO eventually just give up and lay back down or what happens? Do you just continue with progressive waiting? We haven't done REAL progressive waiting in awhile because we thought there was no point with teething, but now it is just becoming more and more of a problem and our DS expects us to come in and rock him and I know he wants us to stay in there. And, I know he is SO tired, but fights these naps. Please help! TIA!

Re: Progressive waiting+crawling+pulling up in crib??
I put DS down like usual. If he's just making a little bit of quiet talking/whining I wait. If he's stood up and can figure out how to sit down, he starts "upset" crying. A couple times he's been upset crying with his head stuck at a weird angle or with an arm out of the crib rail, so I go check immediately if he starts real crying. But usually he's just standing up and can't figure out how to get down. I'll go get him and rock until he's a little sleepier. I think the most I've had to rescue him from standing up is 3 times before he fell asleep.
I wish I had a magic solution- naptime in our house is terrible right now. Once he gets crying because he's "stuck" standing in the crib I go in and lay him back down. I tell him "night night", give him his lovey, and leave the room. I usually have to do this multiple times and sometimes we have to just end the nap altogether.
I've been promised it's a phase and it will pass.
Oh dear god, I sure hope it is a phase. I am just hoping this doesn't continue through all of teething. He was sleeping great until teething really started. After his first tooth, he started waking SO much in the middle of the night.
