Nanny search/placement?

Hi ladies--I'm in search of recommendations for a nanny search or placement assistance. We live in the north shore, and are in need of a nanny starting in late January in advance of my return to work in February. If you have worked with someone looking for a new position, or an agency that helped with placement with whom you had a good experience, I'd appreciate hearing about it. Thanks!

I've heard good things about K.Grace-they're in the city.  Also heard good things about both care.com and sittercity.com

Are you an NPN member? That's a good place to look too.

Hey Sandy, I'm completely overwhelmed by this idea but planning on starting to look after Christmas.  I'm over in Lincoln Square and going back to work part time in February.  Are you looking full time or part?  My MIL was originally going to stay here for 6 months but decided she can't handle the cold and is going back to India soon so now we're starting from scratch.  Good luck!

I actually just read an article in the Tribune regarding how many teachers who cannot find jobs, end up nannying instead. Anyway, the article says that there will be a new website is going to be launched soon called sitterworks.com which I guess will be specifically for nannies that come from an educational or nurse background. I tried to go there just a few moments ago and it still says "Launching soon" but wanted to give you a heads up in case it was something that you may be interested in!

I'm a nanny, and also a soon to be mommy! I was placed through TeacherCare, which is based out of Schamburg, but places in the city as well as the suburbs. All applicants have an educational background (I taught preschool) and as such your child will have access to educational activities. I've been with the same family for almost 4 years now, and we are both very happy with our arrangement. Good luck in your search!
