So I am thinking about returning to school next fall to become a registered dietitian. I will have to go the full 4 years bc most of my classes will not transfer. I am 35 weeks pregnant, so we could be having our son anytime now. Do you guys think I'm crazy for wanting to go back to school with a 8 month old? Are any of you in school or returning after you have your little one? And working a full time job?
Re: Going back to school.....
My daughter was 2 when I started college and I did it as a single mom, but I was blessed to not have to work more than 2 days a week. I had a lot of financial aid for being a single mom, as well as help from my grandparents. In hindsight, it seemed easier than working 40 hours a week. I was able to be home more hours withher eevn though I was studying. She was very self sufficient and she would do art projects and things like that at her desk and I would study at my desk.
Occasionally I would get stuck and have to bring her to lecture halls with me and she would sit and copy statistical formulas in her little notebook and take notes too. It was so cute.
Do you plan to go to school full time and work full time? That sounds really hard. But it can be done.

I recently graduated high school (I'm young, I know) and I found out I was PG the Monday after graduation. I decided to put off school, and even though SO many people have said "Oh, don't put it off, you'll never go back!" I DO NOT regret waiting; I know that I wouldn't be able to handle it with the fatigue and general crapiness of pregnancy. I'm a wimp. LOL.
That said, I plan on enrolling next fall. I was seriously considering starting in January, but then I decided I would probably need time to adjust to having a baby. So I'm waiting until September rolls around to start. The program I will be in is mainly online and I'll only be required to attend one night class every other week. I'm only taking on as much as I can handle, and if you're going to do then same, then by all means GO TO SCHOOL! lol
I'm currently in my last semester with finals next week. I also work part-time, but after the baby is born plan on staying home full-time for a year, then going back to school for a one-year program for my credential.
I am 34 weeks along, and did not think being pregnant while going to school was that bad at all. I imagine it will be a lot more stressful once I have the baby, just because I will have to line up day care and make time while I'm at home to study- THAT is the most challenging part for me, because it is hard to concentrate on homework when you have other things going on. Even so, I really think that if you can make it work, and have a support system around you- then do it! You don't want to wait 5 years and then feel like you wasted all that time. Even if you had to go part-time for a while, it's better than not starting at all.
