  • I don't have any advice or experience or you, but just wanted to say I am sending thoughts and prayers your way!

  • I was put on home bedrest at 25 weeks pregnant with my DD for pre-term labor.  I spent about 3 weeks there, and then was allowed to go back to work (limited schedule) and had a normal pregnancy afterwards.

I personally loved bedrest, but I was in a high stress job (working about 70-ish hrs./wk).  So the break and rest were welcome.  Just remember that you're doing what is best for baby and try to take care of yourself.  No advice really, I just rested, watched tv, read, surfed the web, and had several friends that came to visit and keep me company.

  • No personal experience here but my SIL just went through this - ended up going past her due date after they anticipated pre term labor.  T&P for a healthy baby that keeps cooking a while longer!

  • I was put on bedrest at around 30 weeks on my second bout of preterm labor, so it was not nearly as early as you but it was still long enough to get REALLY old.  There wasn't much to do when I was in the hospital and I was on magnesium (I was there for about 4 days), so was a big blob in the bed the whole time.  When I was discharged, I was put on nifedipene.  At home, I was only supposed to lie on my sides which got pretty sore and only get up to go to the bathroom so I tried to make sure lots of water and snacks were nearby, and relied heavily on tv (the instant netflix was a GODSEND - I watched lots of seasons of tv shows), books (a nook or kindle would have been great, and you can check books out through KCLS for them) and the internet.  I ordered tons of baby stuff and was well stocked up on everything by the time baby came. I was hoping to knit, but it's really hard to knit when you are lying down.  I do know another woman who learned to knit while she was on bedrest and that kept her semi-sane.  I would go crazy because I couldn't clean - I would see dust everywhere and REALLY wanted to vacuum, but had to remind myself that I had other priorities - being a human incubator was the most important thing and the mess could wait.  I really looked forward to my twice weekly NST's - it was pretty exciting just to be allowed to sit up in the car and to get to go to the hospital.  I was taken off of bedrest at around 37 weeks and was induced at 38 weeks because of IUGR.

Do you think you'll have to stay in the hospital the whole time?  I hope you get to go home, and also hope you have a supportive partner and family - it's tough being unable to do things for yourself!

Good luck - I hope that baby stays put!!

  • thanks everyone for the good wishes, advice and encouraging stories!

they're letting me go home from the hospital but I have to stay on bedrest for a bit to make sure nothing gets worse. They're taking a wait-and-see approach and haven't said if it'll have to be for the rest of my pregnancy.

any suggestions for some good places to get meals delivered from?

  • I hope you're doing well, I know this post is old by now..

There should be a couple places that offer prepared dinners to be picked up and there may even be a restaurant delivery service in your area :)
