My husband and I both like this name, but can't decide which way to spell it if we use it. Kai is the original way I believe, and Kye seems more "American." If you heard this name and hadn't seen it before, how would you spell it?
I've only ever seen it spelled Kai. I love this name.
Actually, that's not true, once I saw it spelled Kaj.
But I don't like Kye. Looks weird to me.
TTC 10/11. IUI 2/12. BFP 3/8/12. 4/26/12 missed mc. RE consult 5/17/12. IVF #1 ER 7/13/12 53R, 41M ICSIed, 32F, 8 5d, 6 6d blasts - all PGD/frozen. PGD results 1 normal M and 1 normal F, 1 maybe M. FET 9/6, transferred 1 F embie. Beta 9/15 BFN. FET#2 planned for 11/2012 put off until 2013. Surprise BFP 11/21/12!! My son was born on 7/24/13!
FET 4/28/2015 - Transferred 1 M embie. 5/6/15 BFP!
I've only ever seen it spelt Kai, however I always have to chuckle because I live in NZ and 'kai' is Maori (our native language) for food. I just can't get past that. I highly doubt it will make a difference in the states, Kye just seems like it is missing and 'L' to me.
thanks everyone! I should learn to just trust my instincts, which said to go with Kai from the beginning. I just keep second guessing myself on everything...which is probably why we still don't have names nailed down yet
I definitely prefer Kai, though my cousin named her son Ky... Definitely not my preference, but I have gotten used to it.

Re: kai or kye?
Its hard for me to say how I'd spell it if I'd never seen it before since I have met a couple of Kai's before, both spelled Kai.

Kai.
I went to high school with a kid named that, and that's how his name was spelled also.
