i'm trying to take pics of the girls on the couch surrounded by strings of xmas (white) lights). i can't seem to get it right. with the flash, the kids are whited out completely and the lights are kind of blah. with no flash, the lights are kind of glary. i've turned my house lights on and off, but not much different.
what else can i try?
tia!
Re: photog question
i don't know mlf in the real world and i don't know how to find her unless she posts ( i know, i know i need to learn how!)
if you can post a link? thank you so much!!!
Are you wanting a silhouette-type picture of the girls with lights?
You'll basically want to turn off all the lights in your house, no flash, crank up your ISO as high as it will go (anything over 1600), set your aperture to a lower number (2.8, 3.5, 4, etc.) and meter your shutter speed accordingly. You'll probably have to use a tripod or prop your camera on something because your shutter will probably be pretty slow so you don't want any unnecessary blur.
Oh, no prob. She has a link to her blog in her signature. I think MMT's directions are pretty much what they say. Here is the link to the blog entry that talks about it and has links to the other blogs with directions. Voila: https://www.mandielane.com/2011/12/its-magical-this-little-tree.html
