Hi! We just moved to the Schenectady/Niskayuna area at the beginning of November. I need to find a new pediatrician for my daughter, who is 2.5. And I just found out that I'm pregnant with our second, so I need a new OB or midwife for myself. Any recommendations would be wonderful!
Thanks!
Re: Doctor Recommendations Needed
I can't help with a straight up pedi, as my daughter goes to my own family DR. and has for the past 3 years. My H also goes to her. We have DR. Carrasco who is with Five Corners Family Practice. We are in Schenectady (she's in Rotterdam). I absolutely love, love, love her. She does pediatric work (meaning she'll take newborns), but she's a family DR. She will also do deliveries providing you're low risk, but I didn't use her for that.
I had the Sattar practice for my pregnancy- he/they are located in the building behind Ellis (the one in Sch'dy that used to be St Clares). It's a group of midwives and a DR. Loved my care with them.
Congrats on your pregnancy!
I can't help with the pedi rec, as I'm considering leaving ours already
But, as for an OB, think about whether you want to deliver at a hospital with a NICU (just in case). I knew I did for several reasons and opted for St. Peter's Hospital in Albany (Albany Med also has a great NICU). My OB group only delivers at St. Peter's- it's Upstate OB/GYN. There are 4 different OBs that you will see, but I honestly liked and trusted all of them. It's a little bit of a hike, as it is in Albany, but it was worth it for me.
Good luck! And welcome to the neighborhood!
Welcome! I am on the Schen/Guilderland border. My kids go to CapCare Pediatrics and see Dr. Ford there - we really like him. The only one there I've heard negative things about is Dr Saperstone.

Ditto everything above for Upstate OB/GYN.
As far as Pedi's go, Ryan goes to Schoolhouse Rd. Pediatrics on Schoolhouse Rd (which is basically off of Western at the end of the Northway).
But - my PCP is closer to you and is right near hte corners of Rt. 7 and Balltown in Schenectady. It's Capital Care and I see Dr. Eugene Haber. Not sure if he sees kids but I know someone there does since it's also a family practice.
Good luck and congratulations on number 2!
