I just caught up on the NICU mom check in and saw that you are having a rough week. How is Miss Zoey today?
The NICU is such an overwhelming place! I definitely had my meltdowns in the waiting rooms too. Is there anything we can do to support you? Sometimes it just helps to vent to people who understand.
Re: ::dcmetrobride::
Zoey is doing much better - thanks for asking. Within 1.5 weeks her brain bleed is already showing signs or reducing and being reabsorbed. The big hurdle now is getting her to take from a bottle or latch on. She hit 37 weeks yesterday for her gestational age so hopefully she will get it soon. She latched on a little on Thursday and took about 3ml from a bottle as well. Slow but steady progress.
Thanks again for asking. I think the NICU nurses think I am insane since I get dropped off at the hospital in the morning and stay all day. Next week should be easier when I can drive again.
I'm so glad to hear her brain bleed is healing! That's great news. Feeding is usually a very slow process but the nurses always told me "one day it will just click and she'll take off" and they were right. She figured it out and then pulled her own ng tube
I was at the hospital all day every day too. Its exhausting and comforting all at the same time. Be sure to get out and walk around the floor or outside every once in awhile - it helps your sanity!
Our precious girl, born at 27 weeks.
