God bless your heart for being honest about the answer about your shower...I toooootally know what you mean - I feel terrible for thinking about it, but when MIL talks about buying this that or the other for us, I think to myself, "Woman, just buy me something off the registry or forget it...that's the stuff I NEED!!!!!"

But I was afraid to say that outloud!

I'm glad I'm not the only one.  I really, really don't want to be a brat but I don't need another $100 in blankets -- I do NEED carseats and my stroller which is in that same price range.

I am thankful for everything we've gotten, and we did budget to buy our own stuff.  I was just really, really surprised that all we got was clothes and blankets.  Oh wait -- my sister (LOVE HER) bought us a box of diapers which was great.

Next time I am invited to a shower I will be that boring person that buys the necessities, I swear!  I won't get "oh how cute" from the other guests but I know the mom-to-be will appreciate it that much more.  (and now this is where I confess that I had always bought clothes in the past, and didn't even know baby registries existed until about a year ago -- hangs head in shame).

I was thinking the same thing!  I know it makes me sound like a brat, but I dont have high hopes for my shower since the same people didnt get us any gifts for our wedding...
