I signed up to bring a hot dish to Alex's school party next week. Alex is insistent on meatballs, lol he's so funny.
I usually get frozen meatballs at Costco (on the rare chance we get meatballs, I usually make them myself) but I'm not going to get a chance to go. I need easy... of course origianally I thought I'd make homeade but that's not gonna happen. I have too many funthings to do next week. I need like, frozen meatballs, jar of some kind of sauce, and crockpot. Moderately healthy would be a bonus as well.
I've never done that before though- do you use bbq sauce? Terryaki sauce? I think Trader's has turkey meatballs that are tasty?
Fill me in on the secrets of your meatball-ness, PLEASE!
Re: I need a meatball rec!! :)
I have used this recipe before, it's yummy
The sauce is basic and would be good for kiddos, when I make it I jazz it up a bit with more garlic and red pepper flakes added to the sauce...
I'm sure if you didn't want to do the meatballs yourself, frozen from TJ's (my fav, flavor wise) would work!

My boy lives on frozen TJ's party size meatballs. Plain. He doesn't love sauce at all (spaghetti, red sauce, cheese sauce, etc) so that isn't surprising.
If I was doing it for a preschool class, I'd likely make them hot in something simple like a very basic marinara (like TJ's jarred sauce) so it's not too spicy. Or maybe a swedish meatball mix? DH and I love that and they are a staple of my mother's party buffet.
ETA: the meatballs we get are beef with a slight seasoning, and they are tiny (smaller than a golf ball). They are totally cooked and heat easily in a microwave or I guess in a crockpot. The turkey ones at TJ's are HUGE in comparison and I wouldn't use them for a preschool group unless it was the only thing you were offering.
Sounds weird, but it's SO delish-everyone always raves about them: Sweet and Sour meatballs
1 32 oz jar grape jelly
1 bag meatballs (about 80 in a bag)
I like the Trader Joe's turkey meatballs, as does my DS. As far as sauces, DS likes them plain and sometimes with marinara sauce.
Aidells makes a yummy chicken teriyaki and pineapple meatball too (I've gotten them at costco for DS's 1st b-day party)This is a good homemade one from Skinnytaste (WW points)

I made these before they are AWESOME!
IKEA meatballs!! You can buy them by the bag and buy the sauce packets too (I just make the sauce with milk instead of cream and water.) It's one of my kids favorite meals! I was thinking of making them for dinner tonight. Holds up really well in the crockpot too.
My other meatball go-to is the TJ meatballs, Sweet Baby Ray's Original BBQ sauce and a can or two of pineapple chunks. Throw it all in the crockpot in the AM and by lunch it's ready.
Snooki?
I dunno if you watch Jersey shore but thats the first thing I thought of!
But here is my fail proof meatball recipe.
Meatballs in crockpot
1 can coconut milk (light works great)
2 tbs Peanut Butter
2tbs soysauce
2tbs asian chili sauce (more or less depending on how spicy you like it)
Seriously AMAZING
