Maternity consignment in DC

I packed up Jen's summer clothes and all of her fall/winter clothes that no longer fit last night, and now she has . . . not much left in her closet Smile We are going shopping for a few winter maternity pieces this weekend; we've already hit Old Navy and Target, and did not like the fawning/following at Motherhood. If you're in the DC area, can you recommend a consignment store that you like that carries maternity clothes? Have you been to Wiggle Room? Worth the drive?

(I will be asking the same question about baby/kid consignment once we move to Portland, I'm sure!)

Re: Maternity consignment in DC

  • I didn't shop at consignment for maternity - but it might be worth joining Montgomery County Parents of Multiples and post on their message boards about clothes. I don't know when you are moving, but they have their big consignment sale in March and it is a great place to stock up on clothes/gear for really cheap!

There is a Motherhood at Arundel Mills (outlet) that had great prices and no one stalking you. :)

  • I didn't even think about Motherhood having an outlet, we will check that out. Arundel Mills now has a Merrell outlet...this is a dangerous place to send a lesbian... Big Smile

  • The motherhood is a fairly small store, but I did find some things in there. I think Burlington Coat factory (also at Arundel Mills) sells maternity. If you go this weekend, we might see you (that is where we go to the movies!) :)

Also Columbia Mall isn't too far and there is a regular Motherhood and a Pea in the Pod (pricey, but good work clothes.)

  • Can't help you with DC, but I got C a bunch of stuff from Motherhood's cheap line at Kohls.Mostly clearance + their usual coupons = nice and cheap!
  • In addition to the above, I found decent shirts for work at JCPenney a few times. Also, I'm sure you have already thought of this, but with twins I ended up having to go a size bigger than I normally would have worn just to make sure all the belly was covered. If I had it to do over again I'd just buy the bigger stuff from the beginning.

  • Oh..and I forgot that I went to Kohls and bought regular elastic waist pants for that transition period.

Ditto on TWB - By the end I had 2-3 shirts that covered me. Embarrassed
