Hi, We are in the process of moving to the dc area and are trying to decide where to live. dh is working in the district and rides the metro, so proximity to the metro is important. Also good school districts are very important. We've mainly been looking at Bethesda, but are open to other areas.
Pros/Cons to the different areas? Any advice?
Thanks!
Re: new to dc area
knowing which station he works near makes a difference (ie, if he'd get off at tenleytown, you probably don't want to live near wheaton because you'd be taking the red line all the way around).
also, what kind of budget are you working with? bethesda is a very expensive area and can price people out pretty quickly if you're looking for more than 1 br.
If I were you, I would figure out which line his stop is on and work backwards from there. Example- If he goes to Federal Triangle, I would look on the orange and blue lines.
Bethesda is fantastic, but expensive. If you are looking Red Line, Silver Spring can be more affordable. Northern VA is also great, so you have many options but its hard to give specifics without knowing more about your situation.
Sorry, I guess I should have added that info! His stop is Farragut North (red) or Farragut West (orange.)
