I am having my first IUI this month and am doing clomid and follistim.
I had bw and u/s this morning and just heard from my nurse that my eggs are only 8mm and I need to stay on the follistim injections until Wednesday. We started the injections on Saturday, so it will be five days all together. Is that average? I feel like its longer than my nurse originally led me to believe it would be. How many days did you take follistim? Do you think we could possibly have the insemination this week? Also, when people talk about their trigger shots, is that the ovidrel that you take after insemination? How many days do you take that for? Sorry for all the questions! I just hate feeling so nervous and impatient!!! Thanks!
Re: how many days of follistim?
I just did straight injectables, never along with clomid and I took it for about 8 to 10 days (each cycle was different)
As for Ovidrel, if used as a trigger, it is a shot you take before IUI to release the eggs from the follicles. You take it one time only usually between 24 and 32 hours before your scheduled IUI.
Good luck.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

I'm sorry you are feeling overwhelmed, but try to take it one day at a time. I like to plan things too, and it's hard when you don't get a definite schedule ahead of time. These procedures just don't work that way unfortunately.
I have also never done clomid with injectibles, but I have stimmed anywhere from 9 days to 15 days with follistim. The average is about 8-12 days I think, but it all depends on your dosage and how your body reacts to the meds. As for your IUI being this week, I would say most likely not. I had a 10mm follie this morning after 4 nights of stims, and my RE guessed IUI would be Sunday. I'm not a doctor though, so you should ask your RE for an estimated IUI date.
Ditto the pp about the Ovidrel. If you're talking about an HCG booster, then that can be done a few days after IUI. I don't know too much about boosters though as I've never done them.
HTH!
I stimmed for 9 days. 125iu for 6 days, 150iu for 2 days and the last day was back to 125iu.
GL!!
