We put up my grandparents multi-colored lights for sentimental reasons and I doubt we'll do it again. I realized too late that they are energy suckers and a more energy efficient option could be had in a similar style.  So we just keep them off except for a few hours each night.

We haven't put ours up yet this year and probably won't. Ours are hand-me-down multicolored lights. I had never thought about red and green only. Can you get lights that alternate red and green bulbs, because if I were going to buy new lights that's what I'd want right now.

  I voted special snowflake.      I like white lights when they are the icicle style. Otherwise, I like the house with multicolored lights.
