Recommend your non-smart phone (if anyone else has one)

I know I'm probably in the 1% of the population who doesn't have a smart phone, and I am eligible for an upgrade now. I need something that takes good pictures, and is easy to text with, preferably with a keyboard of some type.

I can't bring myself to spend the extra money on a smart phone and data plan since I have a computer, ipod touch and ipad to keep me "connected." 

I can't find the thread where this was discussed before!

lol Peer pressure!   Verizon. There are a couple that would be free, but one has bad reviews for a delayed keyboard, and the other has a really crappy camera. Oy!

I have the Chocolate Touch from Verizon and I really like it, hence the reason I haven't upgraded even though I was eligible back in February.  I'm like you, I hate to spend the money on the data plan but I think I will end up with an iPhone pretty soon.  Anyway, I like my Chocolate Touch a lot.  The camera is only ok and there's no flash.  But other than that it's great!

Good to know, that's one of the ones I was thinking about! The only other person I know that doesn't have a smart phone is my grandfather. LOL We need a new(er) car and new windows in the house more than I need a smart phone. That's what I keep telling myself :-)

I upgraded to an iphone last month because all the non-smart phones were crappy. A lot don't have video anymore!

We just switched from verizon to at&t.  They have the iphone3 for free - verizon didn't start carrying the iphone until 4, so they don't offer it for free.  But you are right - the real money is in the data plan.

We both have the LG Octane and like it a lot.  We will most likely be upgrading to a Smart phone soon though.

That's what's holding me back, the ongoing monthly expense. If it was just a one time deal, I could suck it up, but since I'm the one who does the budget, it seems frivolous.

I just got the LG Octane free this week! I like it. The keyboard is similar to the LG enV, if your familiar with that one...I used to have that before my last phone. (The Samsung Reality which had to have the $10data pkg) so I down graded to this one! The cam is very good and has a flash even!
