I feel like I pronounce it the same either way. When I see Malea I think it makes sense but I just like the other spelling better. It looks prettier, IMO.
Do you have any family names you might consider for the mn?

Personally I like the look of Malea better. But then you would have to be prepared for everyone to try to pronounce it "ma-lay-a" so that might be a bad idea.
Either way, beautiful name. I am bad with middle names sorry haha. I typically dont like what people choose for girls lol
I like either way. When I first saw "Malia," I read it as "mal-ee-ah." It's just a slightly different pronunciation that doesn't really affect anything.
The first mn that I thought of was Renee. Renee is a pretty popular middle name for my generation but I don't know many younger children with it.

I think Malia looks best and is more likely to be pronounced correctly. When I see Malea, I think Ma-lay-ah. I think short middle names sound good with Malia, Malia Jane for example.

Re: Name Spellings
Malea Is what I like best but more because I think it looks more like what it sounds like.
I am a huge fan of Elizabeth as a middle name or grace.

I like the Malia spelling - I would say Malea like "ma-lay-a".
For middle names... I think a name that isn't starting with a vowel would be best. .
Malia Mae
Malia Breanne
Malia Kathleen
Malia Leigh
I also like PPs suggestion of Malia Renee.
