Flashes of light in peripheral vision??

Hi!  I've experienced twice now little squiggly lines in my peripheral vision.  I think some may describe it as seeing stars but not stars for me more of a line.   Once in the shower when I bent over to get my shampoo, again today as I was blow drying my hair.  I phoned the Dr she said as long as its not followed by a headache, swelling, and went away.  She wasn't that concerned.  My husband is a firefighter/medic and he took my blood pressure it was ok.  Dr said, sounds positional and if it continues to come in, for now just take it easy and move slowly, and drink tons of water.   Has anyone else experienced this??  What did you do??

  • I have noticed this exact same thing. I notice it in the shower when I was my face and rub my eyes too hard, or when I bend over

It definitely scared me the first time

  • Sounds like an acephalgic or "silent" migraine which is the aura you get from a migraine without the headache. It's not uncommon and nothing to worry about. If you get numbness, slurred speech, or a headache, let your dr. know. It would still probably be nothing to worry about, but she would want to keep an eye on it.

  • Could be a migraine without headache.  I had two REALLY bad migraines with aura (slurred speech, numbness in right arm, zigzags in my vision) about a month ago and I thought I was having a stroke...second time ended up going to the ER and had an MRI...not fun...and pregnancy can definitely induce them.

  • My friend had this a lot with her pregnancy.  They said it was occular migraines and nothing to worry about as long as your BP is ok.
  • If they continue see your eye doc, it could also be the start of a detached retina. I had one while pg with ds.
