Does anyone know why kids can get a few shots in a day but then can't get another one for a month? Evan needed his MMR and chickenpox before starting school. He got the MMR at his appt yesterday but can't get another for a month even though they wanted to give him both yesterday. We want him vaccinated before he starts school, but they'll take a doctors note saying he isn't eligible to get it until the 6th (he starts on the 3rd)
Re: Vaccine question
They can get multiple shots on the same day bc the theory is that the immune system response will actually make them more effective - they will augment each other. Certain shots together are also shown to be safe, whereas others are not (like multiple live vaccines).
You mean he can't get another mmr until the 6th? Or the chicken pox? For the same shot it is probably because that is the way it is done in the studies and approved by the fda. So if the company did the shot series no closer than x number of days apart, that it what it is approved for. It may not hurt him to get it a few days earlier, but if there aren't studies showing that, they wouldn't do it.
