Can someone help me compare these products? I don't have alot of time at work these days for research. To me, they're all roughly the same thing, just different brands. Are there any major differences between them? For some reason I'm leaning towards the Innotab, but I couldn't really tell you why other than the way it looks.
And no, I will NOT be buying my son an ipad. I see that mentioned alot and it's just not going to happen. No offense to anyone that has. I don't even have an iphone, no way my 4 yo is getting an ipad. Besides, he likely break it before New Year's.
Re: Innotab vs MobiGo vs iXL vs Leap Pad
I have nothing to offer other than the thumbs up on the Ipad comment. I don't own an i anything and I don't get why someone would give it to their 2 year old. I had a friend tell me that she is debating giving her daughter their ipad to watch movies on ALONE in her room for quiet time. Huh?
I've heard great things about the Leap Pad, we may look into that for a bday gift. I know my sisters kids all had "leap" something or other growing up.
Thankfully I haven't heard of anyone giving their child an iPad! That is crazy talk. Now if my parents want to give their child an iPad, that'd be OK.
We got an Innotab on Black Friday for $40 -- still haven't looked into it. A LeapPad is worth a little more than an Innotab, but not a lot more, IMO. The idea of games then costing more bugs me! I do like them better than the MobiGo or Leapster, however.

My in-laws gave my son an iXL about a year ago. It's a neat little thing - I do like that you can load some of your own content (photos, music, etc.). The games do take a lot of memory, and we've added memory in order to have more than, say, two full games loaded on there.
I was also impressed with how sturdy the little thing is....I mean, 4-5 year old boys are not always so gentle with things It also must be pretty intuitive to use, because he figured stuff out pretty quickly. We, of course, limit his time using it, but if given an opportunity, he'd play with it all the time.
There are not a ton of games out there, but each disc (about $25 each) contains stories, games, songs, etc. with the theme.
I'm not really familiar with the other products, so I can't compare, but we've been pleased with it so far.
Good luck!

I agree on the Ipad. My DH just got one for us and had suggested giving it to DD#1 as her Christmas gift...ah, no! No reason for her to have something that expensive as a "toy". Playing on it with our supervision is another thing which she loves doing.
I'm still trying to figure out the differences also. I've heard great things about the leap pad.
From what Ive researched I dont think you can go wrong with the Leap Pad or the Innotab. My cousin chose the Innotab for their 4yrold.....why I dont know but it was between the 2.
MIL is getting AT some type of Leap something I have no idea....but she did say it was $35 or something so who knows. Let me know what you decide though. Ill prob get him something like that for his bday next year.
The boy just wont put down a truck long enough to really be interested.
