It's all in the hands of our social worker now. Such a load off. Our home visit was this morning and was a breeze. We just talked about what we had already written in our biographies and took a little tour around the house.
I didn't vacuum and we even had a few dirty dishes in the sink... :::shudder!::: I just didn't have time this morning. She barely glanced in our kitchen and just peeked in each room. NO biggie. She asked if we had fire extinguishers, but didn't ask to see them. That was really it. (She did say that a foster home study is much different.)
We're already matched, so now we just have to wait on the arrival of baby girl in February! So much to do, so little time.
Oh, and I fell in love with DH all over again this morning. He was answering the question about how confident he was about adopting and loving the adopted child. (It took him a while to get on board w/ adopting.) He answered honestly and explained to her about how before he was unsure. But now, there is a baby out there... with a name... and a due date. And just like when I was pregnant with DD (who he loved before ever seeing and holding her for the first time) he already loves this baby. Cue the tears! I had never heard him say that before.
We know there are NO guarantees in the adoption process, but I'm so praying that this IS our baby.
So there you go... Happy Day!
Re: Home Study = DONE :)
Awesome! I'm so glad things went so well and that you got a chance to see how much this means to your husband, too.
After 5.5 years of loss, heartbreak, and empty arms, our dreams were fulfilled through the beautiful, selfless gift of adoption. We are amazingly blessed!
