Are fumes safe?

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I work at a middle school as a P.E. teacher.  We just had our gym floor replaced and it has been painted and waxed.  The smell is so strong in there that when I walked in I immediately went to throw up!  I don't know what kind of paint or chemicals were used, but I'm scared it isn't safe to inhale that and be in there all day!  Does anybody know if these types of fumes can harm my baby?
