Florence? It was my great grandmother's name, and she was very special to me. That said, I wouldn't want to saddle potential DD#2 with a name that sounds too dated. Grandma's nickname was Flossie.DD#1 is Evangeline, nn Evie.

I would use Flo as a nn though.

Personally, I love the nn Flossie.  My great-aunt is a Florence but has only ever been called Flossie.  It makes me think of the Bobbsey Twins also!  Flo reminds me of the lady in the Progressive commercial but Flora is very cute too.  I like it with Evangeline also.  Plus, if you don't want your child to have a certain nn, just set parameters with people.

I love the name Florence.  If we have have another DD I would very much consider this name.  I like the NN Flora though. 

What's interesting is currently in the USA it's not even in the top 1000 but in Europe it's in the top 20!

Florence seems a little dated to me, but it may just not be my style. Since it isn't prominent in the US that may be why I feel that way.

However, I do think it goes nicely with DD#1. It isn't like you'd have one trendy name with an older name. I really like the nn Flora. Flossie sounds funny to me, but I've never heard it before. I also like the sentimental value of the name for you. It would also be a great middle name if you end up going with a different first name.
