TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

BV - any experience? & temping question

I finally dragged myself to medexpress on Sunday- turns out when I treated the YI with monistat, I ended up getting bacterial vaginosis (BV). Essentially an overgrowth of bacteria. They put me on 7 day antibiotics to clear it up. I had a good laugh though at the information they gave me - apparently semen will make you have a bad reaction (burning) by triggering the bacteria.

Anyway - I'm not supposed to BD for a full week.. which sucks in general but I'm supposed to O soon! I'm temping/using OPKs and am relatively "regular" (a whole lot of good that's doing me, ugh).

A few questions:
- will BV mess with my O date? (yes, please look into your magic 8 ball =D)
- will the antibiotics mess with my temp?
- would you suck it up and BD even though you're not "supposed to" if you get a +OPK during your "don't BD" week?

Be honest - I'm in denial since I really don't want to completely lose this month of TTC. I'm getting anxious since the 1 year anniversary of getting KU the 1st time is coming up sooner than I realized.

Re: BV - any experience? & temping question

  • I would doubt that BV would affect when you ovulate and have no idea how antibiotics affect temps, but if the doctor told you not to BD I probably wouldn't-I wouldn't want to risk an infection getting worst!

  • I don't know much about BV, but I'll keep my FX that you don't get a positive OPK until after the week is up...I'd definitely follow the doctor's advice.  GL.

  • They may have told you to wait because of the pain but here is also some evidence that BV may cause MC.  Some research says it contributes to early ones, some that it contributes to 2nd tri and later. The Dr may be worried that if you don't clear up the BV and you get pregnant, it could cause another loss.

    PAL/PGAL Welcome

  • Thanks for being honest.. I haven't gotten a +OPK yet (CD17) so I'm hoping stress is delaying my ovulation since it's finals week and work has been hell. Is that bad? I dunno, my yearly is next wednesday and it's finally setting in that a year ago I was telling her we were starting to TTC and here I am a year later with an empty ute and no baby. C'est la vie.
