TTC After a Loss

Cramps two weeks after d&c?

I had my d&c almost two weeks ago. I had spotting and dull cramps for about a week and then nothing, totally fine. Well just today I started having cramps, that feel like period cramps. I am totally confused, I go to the doctor tomorrow and will bring this up but am wondering if anyone experienced anything similar? I really do not think I can be getting my period yet, but I am not sure why I am having cramps. I can't wait for my body to be "normal" again...

Re: Cramps two weeks after d&c?

  • I had cramps off and on for a few weeks after the D&C.  Were you really active today?  About a week after my D&C I was feeling fine, so I hung a bunch of things up in my classroom.  I cramped really bad that night.  It was too much too soon. Definitely ask your doctor tomorrow.  Hope you feel better.  I can't wait for my body to be normal again too!

  • Yes, I was really active the past two days. I did a lot of walking yesterday and carrying my 16 month old. It was the most that I have done since the d&c. Maybe I still need to take it easy... I am just worried that there may be an infection.

The lifting could be what did it.  My mom, who is a nurse, kept telling me to stop lifting and take it easy.  I'm sure everything is okay.  It's good you're going to the doctor for your follow up.  They will be able to give you more information. :]

  • It's probably the lifting.  My post-op instructions said no heavy lifting for 4-6 weeks.  I told the nurse, I have a 27lb toddler, who still sleeps in a crib...I have to lift.  She said no lifting for at least a week and then, no carrying him or lifting up from the floor to the crib.  I was able to make arrangements so I didn't have to carry or lift lo at all for a week and in the few weeks following, I got him to crawl up and down stairs and climb onto the couch or our bed before I lifted him at all.

  • I definitely had strange cramps up to three weeks after my d&c.  They would disappear for days and then all of a sudden they would just JAB me!

I also had a bit of cramping every time I had to urinate.  My OB said that my uterus was just still sore and when my bladder was full, it was pushing on there......

I hope you feel better soon!
