Caitlin is the correct, traditional spelling. In Irish the name is pronounced differently than it is in the US, and the other Kaitlyn/Katelynn/etc spellings are phonetic spellings. I'm a Caitlin and I strongly, strongly dislike all the spellings with K's and Y's in them- I think they look too tryndee.
The name as it is pronounced is bastardization (does that work on the nest) of a Gaelic name. My understanding is that Caitlin is the original spelling but when the pronunciation changed, so did the spelling. I think this is one of those names you can spell many different ways.

I could hold you for a million years
to make you feel my love.
The only Kaitlins I know are spelled Kaitlin.... And I know about ten ranging from about 4 yo to 35 yo. Funny I've never met one spelled any differently.
I think my opinion is biased because I really want to name a girl Kate and dh is all about long names you can shorten I say just name her Kate and be done with it, lol!

I think Caitlin.
This.
I'm not sure which is "standard", but the only one I like is Katelyn.
