Lo was 19lbs 6oz at his 4th month appointment. 98% for weight, height and head. His pedi said he is doing great. I wouldn't worry about it. All babies are different, like adults are. Your baby is going to be fine, even though you feed at night. I would find a new doctor
This is crazy. My DD is also 15 lbs at 4 and a half months and the pedi said that was fine. Like your DD, mine is very tall (90th percentile for height) so she doesn't look too chubby. My DD eats 5-6 oz every 3 hours as well, not all babies will go 4 hours. DD does sleep through the night, but if she didn't I would feed her, I obviously wouldn't let her go hungry.

At my DD 4 month well baby, she weighed 15.5lbs. My doc says shes doing wonderfully. Especially since when she was born she was in the 10th % for height and in the 5% for weight. Now shes in the 95% for both. He was extremely happy with her progress and says her feeding habits are completley normal (I'm feeding also 4-6 oz every 3 hours give or take). He did say that in the next month or so,I should be a little "mean" (for lack of better term) with the night time feedings and try not to feed her every time she wakes up. This advice wasn't because of her weight though. He told me this so that she will start to learn to sleep through the night. I would look for a new pedi if I were you. Or at least seek another opinion just to check it out with other medical professionals. I think its inappropriate for a doctor to tell you that you are setting your child up to have poor eating habits in the future and that your baby is fat. You do what's best for your baby, and don't worry about the pedis "PERSONAL" opinion. Sometimes pedis are telling you how to raise your chld based on how THEY would raise theirs. Everyone does it their own way based on their own instincts.
My DD was 15lbs 8 oz at her 4 month and my Dr. said it was great and said keep doing what we are doing! I told her how much she was getting (approximately 26-28oz) of breastmilk and she said that was fine. She said she was in the 50th for length, 50 for head circumferance and 80th for weight. Perfectly fine in her book.
Both H and I were chubby babies and both our moms said the minute we started moving we stopped gaining and slimmed down. Chubby babies are healthy babies and as my mom pointed out, if she gets sick she has some reserves unlike my little nephew who is in the 4th percentile for weight.
My DD is 14.5lbs 24in she is over in the weight catagory and on target for height. Pedi wasnt worried. I dont feed DD at night ever unless I know she is terrible hungry (ie she was fussy on the breast durning the day or distracted.) She eats 5oz every 3hrs or so. I dont think there is anything wrong.
What is her height? If it is proportional to her weight I would not be concerned. My LO is in the 99th percentile for height, weight and head circumference. He's not chubby....he's a big boy all over.
This exactly. I'd be annoyed if my pedi called DS overweight...

Dear God, Since I couldn't hold my little one in my lap and tell him about you, could you hold him in your lap and tell him about me?
Your Pedi should never make you feel like that! We took DD in for a check up when she was just about to turn 5Mo. and she weighed 16 lb 6.4oz, it's true that every baby grows differently but from what i've seen 15lbs is an average weight for that age. I would look for another pedi, gl!
That doctor sounds crazy! My son is 18 lbs at 4.5 mos. He is in the 85th percentile for weight and 95th for height. According to my doctor he is healthy, and even if he was a little bigger than normal, every baby is different. I am so sorry they upset you like that!
DS was 16 lbs at 4 months and the doctor had no problems with it.
Oh, Baby Bean! We will always miss you! With us for 6w3d -- June 9, 2008. 2 years of TTC, Seeing RE Feb 09, 2 medicated TI cycles - BFNs, 3 medicated IUIs - BFNs, back to medicated TI cycles until IVF approval, IVF approved in March 2010. BFP on last medicated TI cycle.
At his 4 month appt (the day he turned 4 months) he was 16lbs, 4oz and 27 in long. They told me that is 70th% for weight and off the charts for height. I just happen to have a big boy. They were very happy with how he looked and that he hit his milestones.
Re: 15lbs at 4 Months=Overweight??
My friend has a son who at his 4 month appt was 15 lbs and he is in no way overweight. I would think about switching pediatricians.
This.
At our 4 month appointment, she was 4 1/2 months old. My dd was 19 lbs and is very chubby. My doctor wasn't worried about her.

I would start looking for a new pedi.
