First internal done today....

I had my first internal done today and I am 1cm and 50% thinned...the doctor told me thats where i wanted to be at 36 weeks but I see alot of people at 1cm earlier than this. With my first my water broke at 37 weeks and i was not dilated or thinned at all. I am just wondering how everyone else who is 36 weeks is doing/dilated/thinned...

At my 37 week appt last Wednesday I was still closed.

At 36 weeks I was 3cm 70% effaced

It's really no indication as to when you'll go into labor.

As of last tuesday I was 1 cm just started to thin. But I have history of PTL and been fighting to keep this little guy in.

I am still closed up tight at 38 weeks. I keep telling myself it doesn't mean anything, but I'd still like to see some progress...

At 37+4 I was only a fingertip dilated at my internal exam

Everyone is going to be completely different and it doesn't really matter anyway since cervical dilation is not an indicator of when you will go into labor.  You can be 3cm+ starting at 34 weeks and have to be induced after 41 weeks, like a lot of people I know, or you can go into labor at 0cm.  I declined cervical checks during pregnancy for that reason.  My first check was during labor, before going to the hospital, and even though I was less than 1cm, DS was born just over an hour later.

At my 37 week appt I was completely effaced but not dilated. She also said my cervix was completely soft, though I don't even know what that means.

I'm having a scheduled c-section next week, so the progress matters less to me!

When I was pregnant with my daughter I showed up to the hospital in full blown labor and I was only 1cm dilated.  I went from 1cm to 4cm in about 15 minutes after I got an internal done in L&D.

Ob is being kind and holding off for internals at this point until I am 38 weeks. My cervix "hides" and the internals hurt, as we discovered at the hospital when I had a PTL scare a month ago.

70-80% effaced but not dilated at 36 weeks. I don't think I have another one until 38 or 39 weeks...

last week I was still closed and as my OB put it, my cervix was still "long and hard".  I have heard of other reproductive organs being described this way but not my own...hoping I have made progress when I go tomorrow.

the dr. told me I was 2 cm dilated and very soft. With DD at 36 weeks I was barely dilated.
