I'm 23 and just found out I'm about 5 weeks pregnant - unplanned but loved. We have only been together a short time and both of us still live with our parents (I just finished school and he is working on it.)
We have been doing a ton of research and are just a little overwhelmed. Any advice on where to start? Should we try to create a registry for stuff? What should we ask the obgyn at our meet and greet?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. So far the bump has lots of info but we just don't know where to start.
Re: Newly pregnant and overwhelmed!!
Congrats!
I'd start with the first trimester board and go from there. Maybe even your birth month board.
I wouldn't think about a registry until you figure out where you're going to live after baby and how you're going to swing things. Then you'll have a better idea of what you need and how many.
I'd let the ob/gyn lead the conversation. You can ask about prenatal vitamins and what you should expect over the next few months. Find out who's in the practice, who has a chance of delivering your baby, and what hospital(s) they have privileges. Look into some childbirth and newborn care classes.
Give it some time to sink in. You have that time right now.
Hi,
I'm in the same boat. I'm 27 and have one semester left before I graduate with my Bachelors Degree. I just found out I'm pregnant and I'm freaking out! This was so not planned but my BF is being supportive. We have been together 7 months and have known since the first few days that we would spend forever together.
I am so afraid to tell my family though. My sister got pregnant a few years back and wasn't married and it didn't go over well. Everything is fine now but the intital months were hell.
I'm not sure where to start either but for sure will be contacting the Dr. because i'm on some medications that may or may not harm the baby!
