(Non-Clicky) Poll: What is your heater set at?

DH and I are fighting over this. I'm freezing constantly and even though I wear a bunch of layers, socks, and slippers, I feel like I can't stay warm in our house. We need to winterize or something - I'm sitting by the wall of windows at the back of our house and I can feel cold air blowing in :/

Anyway...DH would be happy if our heat was set at 68 or lower. I say it needs to be at least 71, though I'd prefer it at 74 (like it is now...shhh, he's not home Wink) I'll let him bump it down to 70 when we go to bed, but he complains that he's sweating and I've got 15 blankets on top of me, lol... What does yours stay at?

  • 69 at night
    70-71 during the day

  • Mine is at 75 right now (usually it is at 72) and I am FREEZING. I am pretty sure I need to go get an iron injection. :-( I also have on a tank top, tights, fuzzy socks, and sweater and shivering. I am thinking about going to Target to get a heated blanket.

  • Ours is set at 68, but sometimes during the day I'll bump it up a little.  I like it cold when I'm sleeping so I can use the comforter =).

  • We have a programmable thermostat so it varies.  RIght now it is set at 68 while we sleep and goes up to 74 during the day.  I think I'm going to have to bump up the night time temp, though - Audrey woke up in the middle of the night saying she was cold so I think we're going to have to keep it on 70 at night.

  • 68-70.  If it goes over 70, I get hot and really annoyed.

My DH and I argue, too.  He wants it warmer and hates wearing winter clothes.  But I tell him--we spend the rest of the year being hot, he can put on a sweater and deal for our 6 week long winter.  Smile

This is SO me. I've got slippers, socks, workout tights, a tank top, long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, and a blanket on me. I knew it was going to be worse this year than normal b/c I've lost quite a bit of body fat, but this is ridiculous!

  • You would hate my house. I HATE being hot and really don't care for "fake heat". At night, it is set to come on at 60. During the day, I have it set at 62.

During the summer, we keep our A/C at 66 at night and 70 during the day!

  • 73 when we get home (it's in the 60 when we're gone) but we're from the Caribbean so even that's kinda low

I'm quite sure I would die. That is freezing!!!

  • We or the opposite of everyone else but we are not home during the day and our kids have fur.  68 during the day and 72 at night.
  • 68 and DH is freezing.  He put it on 69 last night and I thought I was going to die of heat stroke.  When he's OOT I put it on 66 or 67 day or night.  I'm blaming being pregnant.  Also, the dogs sleep on our bed and they keep me super warm, they sleep nestled next to me not DH.  During the day my boxer doesn't leave my side so I have a personal heater.

  • I'm always cold, so it's at 71 during the day and off at night ( I like to sleep cold) but I'm getting B a space heater for her room today.

  • I cannot stand being cold.  At all. And work from home. I have it at 72 but want it at 74.  However DH also works from home and b/c our house heats unevenly (and also has awful insulation), his office gets way too hot. So we can't go higher than 72.  This is why I finally ordered Uggs to wear indoors in the winter so my feet will be warm.

At night I turn it down to 70 b/c for some strange reason I am the one that gets super hot at night. I cannot however go below 70.  Brrrrrrr!

  • 68 during the day and 64 at night (still 68 for upstairs at night for DSs room).

  • 68 or 69. Anything higher and all the hot airs dumps into the kids' rooms and makes them stifling. The master is in the far back and has a huge window, so our room is always freezing. We sleep with four blankets. It's cozy.
    Dear Bump: You suck.
  • 72 and I'm freezing.  I'm thinking about bumping it up to 74 or 75.

  • I am always cold in this house, especially downstairs. Our next house will have a dual heating system. Anyway, I think we keep it at like 74 during the day and 69 or so at night. I like being cold at night but I'm miserable being cold during the day.

  • Ours is at 68 or 69.  The boys' room is always really hot, so we don't bump it up into the 70s much at all.  Or yet, anyway!
  • Have yet to turn mine on and it's 62 inside. Meh, just put on more clothes. I think coming from a cold state and an 1898 house, you learn that if it isn't below freezing out, you don't need heat. Smile
  • 70 during the day, 68 at night

  • just turned our on today for the today.  I'm also always cold so I have on winter clothes, fuzzy socks and a space heater in the living room. :)  I set it to 70.
  • 72, but our thermostat is in the living room and it gets a lot warmer than the bedrooms. DD's bedroom is freezing in the morning, so I'm nervous to set it any lower.

Same. I'll bump it up to 70 if I'm sitting around the house doing homework or something. Otherwise I make enough body heat to keep me warm. We're really not home much, either.

  • Wow!  Ours is set at 66.  Any higher and I'd feel hot.  I guess our house holds onto heat really well.  The boys have a space heater in their room since theirs is the most poorly insulated in the house.  But if I cranked the heat at night, it'd be stifling in there.  I love this weather.  It means I actually want to snuggle with my DH instead of shoving him over to his side of the bed.  :)

  • 65 at night, 68 during the day. DH would like it higher at night, but I've always needed cold to sleep and it's even worse now. We bought him an electric twin sized blanket for his half of the bed to help out.  Essentially, every time the heater comes on, the heat from it wakes me up.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • 71 and I walk around in socks yoga pants and a t-shirt. If I'm watching tv or something I'll get a blanket. I like being cold and being under a blanket.
  • 68. we keep a portable heater in our room (or move it out to the living room) and another in the nursery. it helps raise the temp in those rooms to 72 or higher.
  • It's set to 68 when we're home and to 65 when we're out of the house.
  • We keep ours on 74 during the day and 73 at night.
  • At 68 degrees I start to feel like I can't breathe.  Maybe I need a humidifier?  I'm on the couch with thick socks and a fuzzy blanket.
