Cloth Training Pants?

Has anyone used cloth training pants? If so, recommendations?

Re: Cloth Training Pants?

  • I was wonering aobut this mysleft but they seem a bit pricey?  Is there any reason not to go straight to undies when the time comes?

  • I used some Happy Heiny's ones for my late nighttime trained child, and they worked well while he was in his 3's, and less well in his 4's (he just sleeps really deeply and doesn't wake).  I didn't use them much for actual training, I just made a lot of threats about putting him back in diapers and that kind of thing :)

You can do that, but you sure have a lot of pee to clean up off the floor when she has a mistake. Training pants are just undies that catch the oopsies.

Our daycare won't allow this because of the mess potential.

    That's precisely what I did.

Yes, underwear doesn't catch accidents, so you have a mess to clean up if they pee. That's a GOOD thing. If DD made a mess, she got upset, and used the potty next time to avoid making another mess. If she didn't make a mess, she didn't care, and didn't bother using the potty.

I did make her a couple pairs of training pants. She treated them just like diapers.

Her daycare had no problem with it, either. They never suggested putting her in diapers or training pants. Even when she came home with five pairs of wet underwear in her bag.

I've heard other people say that their kids DO know the difference between diapers and training pants, so this is definitely a YMMV situation. But I wouldn't go running out to buy a whole stash of cloth training pants until you know they'll work for your kid.
