C-sections

2 weeks post op... ??s

As a FTM recovering from an unplanned c-section, I am actually nervous about seeing my doc for the first time. It's my 2 week check up, but I have NO clue what to expect...

Can any of you ladies help me out? What did your doc do at your first check up appointment? Anything I should be prepared for?

Re: 2 weeks post op... ??s

  • Mine just looked at my incision.  We discussed the birth (though mine was scheduled, some things didn't go as planned), and I was on my way.  Easy peasy.

  • With ds they just looked at the incision to make sure it was healing ok and talked about any questions I had.  No biggie at all.  I know at the 6 week one they did an internal with ds.  Not sure if they will this time or not since I was totally closed up and dd's head wasn't even close to being engaged at all.

  • I didn't have a 2 week post op appointment. At 6 weeks I got a pap (due for one) and she checked my incision.

  • 2 weeks - look at incision, asked in general how I was feeling, did post partum depression screening, and checked BP.

6 weeks - pap (since you likely won't return to the OB for awhile, they did it to save having to return sooner) and normal GYN exam. Talked about BC. Went over doctor's notes from c/s and they relayed any info they had. Talked about future children. Did extensive screening for PPD.

  • At 2 weeks my OB (from unplanned c sec) just checked incision and asked how I was doing.

At 6 weeks my midwife (who was supposed to deliver my LO) didn't do anything because I didn't deliver vaginally or tear.

I had to do my pap later because it had not been a year since previous one and insurance wouldn't cover it.
