Cloth Diapering

What causes PUL to delaminate?

Hi Ladies,

I had 2 FBs delaminate a few months ago and recently had a chepo/chinese pocket delaminate.  In all cases they are bering replaced free of charge.  Is it the quality of the diaper or something in my washing process?  I do a standard cold rinse/hot wash/cold rinse and had been using Nature Clean but have recenlty switched to RnG.  I did some googling but didn't come up with much.

 Thanks!

A.

Re: What causes PUL to delaminate?

  • Usually, it's a combo of poor quality PUL and extremely hot water or a hot dryer.  That said, I almost always dry my pockets in the dryer and have only had 1 diaper delaminate.  Needless to say, it was a cheaply made diaper.

  • I hang my diapers to dry 99% of the time so it shouldn't be a hot dryer problem.

  • I have one ebay cheapy (icute) that has delaminated.  I hang dry, so I assume its because I washed in hot water, which is against their recommendations.

  • Cheap ain't good and good ain't cheap.

Poor quality and heat are the two big causes.
