I always thought that one of the best things about having #2 would be that you were already prepared/equipped with everything you need! However, since #2 is coming unexpected now and DS will only be 1, is there anything else I need to get doubles of? Obviously I'll need a double stroller, etc... but as far as other equipment goes... any recommendations? Thanks!
Re: What Do I Need Doubles of?!
Maybe a second monitor. Definatley another car seat, it will just depend on age/weight on what type to get. A second crib, or a bassinette unless #1 will be ready for a toddler bed. Second high chair/booster seat for eating.
Hope this helps!
We have a double stroller, a second crib, another light/sound machine, a second camera for our video monitor, and two pack n plays. In the beginning I liked having a pack n play in our master bedroom and another one downstairs. Sometimes you need a safe place to put one of them. When I go back to work we'll need both pack n plays at the sitter's house for nap time. We also got a different swing, but just because we liked it more than the one we had.
We thought we would need another high chair, but have managed with just one. Sometimes our baby sits in the bouncer or bumbo while our toddler is in the high chair. Sometimes our baby is in the high chair while our toddler sits on a regular chair at our kitchen table. It depends on our toddler's mood.
Our toddler is in a convertible car seat and the baby uses our infant car seat. Our baby will be ready for a convertible before our toddler grows out of his- so we have two of those as well.
Double stroller, high chair, car seat, crib, moniter...I think that's the only things we had two of.
Ours are a year apart, and we got:
A double stroller (very necessary for us since we walk every day).
A second crib.
A second car seat.
A second high chair (you don't need this until #2 starts solids, though).
Another white noise machine. My two share a room but they nap in seprate rooms and it is also helpful to have a second so DH or I can get extra sleep on the weekends.
We use cloth diapers, so we bought more of those. And that was really about it. Oh, I switched to a regular backpack for our diaper bag - I need my hands free and it holds everything I need for two.

A Diaper Genie. I didn't think I would need it but it sure makes things easier.
all we did was a double stroller and buy another crib, as ds1 crib turned into his toddler bed. i didn't buy a highchair as i moved ds1 to a booster seat and he eats at the table and that way ds2 has the highchair.
