I like it. Short, spelled correctly and distinctly masculine. Undoubtedly, there will be Simpson references, but honestly it is inspired more by Bart Starr (even though this was not his legal name).
I have an enduring hated for Bart and Bert. Really really NMS. I'm sorry-I can't get over it. If you like short, simple and masculine how about Bram or even Brad.
Yea.. not a fan at all. I don't like the sound (and how it is one letter off from fart) and Bart Simpson is just not a character I would want my child associated with.
I would keep looking. How about Brock?

I know a Barton that goes by Bart sometimes. It's NMS and doesn't sound like a very smart name to me if that makes sense.
Yeah, it sounds like a dopey kid to me too. I think it's a terrible name. I think it's way too close to other words you wouldn't want kids teasing your DS with.
The first thing that came to mind after reading Bart was fart. Sorry. I know one person named bart and he's a dweeb. Sorry, NMS but if you love it, go for it!
My husband's name is Bart, he's a third. I HATED it when we met, and I still don't love it, but I love him, so it works I vetoed it for our son though, I just couldn't do it even though it was breaking tradition. I wouldn't do it, honestly.

Believe it or not, I don't think of the Simpsons first. I think of the BART in San Fransisco.. Bay Area Rapid Transit. I have no idea why, I've only been to SF once. But the train/subway system pops in my head.
I like the name Bartholomew, not a big fan of the nn Bart. When I asked about it last year the general consensus was that it will be forever associated with Bart Simpson.
While I have a lot of Portland pride in The Simpsons, the name will remain in the middle name category for me.
Re: Thoughts on Bart?
It has potential for teasing, other than that I like it. I like Bert a little better.
Easy to spell, say and remember... nice!

I recently took a class and the instructor was Bart. Just Bart. I really don't like it. As someone else said, it just doesn't sound nice. At all.
And quite honestly, I find it to be "geeky" and this guy kind of fit the bill perfectly.

Regardless though, it's NMS.
