Once again, double stroller recs

I swear I saved the link to a previous double stroller recommendation post, but I can't find it now. Any chance you'll reiterate the pros and cons of these beasts for me? TIA!

Re: Once again, double stroller recs

  • The advantage of our sit and stand is that it is narrow and can get through doorways, so it is good for things like shopping and squeezing between racks in store aisles, taking the kids to the dr. because it's not too monsterous to fit into waiting rooms, etc.  I can never remember the brand of the one we have, Joovy maybe?  Yes, I think that's it.  It's heavy when folded up, but not impossible. Ours was a gift from the MIL when #2 was born.

I highly recommend a BOB double jogging stroller if you're like us and go to a lot of outdoor activities (we don't jog with it Embarrassed).  I love ours, it's amazingly easy to push.  We actually put all three kids in our double BOB - we have the two younger kids sit in the seats, and our oldest sits down by their feet over the wheel (she normally wants to walk, but gets tired of course and doesn't want to walk like any kid).  It is wonderful for pushing over grass, gravel, tree roots, anything that's not a sidewalk.  I wouldn't use it for shopping or every day errands, it's too wide and unweildy, and huge to fit in the back of the minivan.  But it is oh-so-worth-it for trips to the playground, going to street festivals, the zoo, pumpkin patches, the Ren Faire, etc.  These things are ghastly expensive new - we got ours for $300 on Craigs List.

  • We love our double BOB. It's the best, and we even take it to Target and some stores. We also have a MacLaren Twin Triumph, but I don't love it. It's hard to unfold, the sunshades are small, and the wheels aren't great. If I had the money, I'd get a City Mini Double.
  • I like our city mini double. It folds easily, has a great sunshade, maneuvers well, and it's relatively light. My complaints, the basket is virtually unusable and like any side by side, its great in many places, but can be a tight fit. I would definitely recommend it. If you go for one, for the price of a used, we bought a new one on Albee baby. It was the last year's model clearanced.
  • Dear DCtLC,

I am a Phil&Ted girl (was a gift). I have zee-row regrets on my stroller. It handles like a charm. Mine is the lower-end stroller, but I have no major desires on the fancier models. You can get an attachment for the carseat, of course. Once the baby is out of the basket carseat, you will likely put the toddler up front (due to the weight). My H1 liked sitting both in the front and back.

Oh, and they have AWESOME customer service, which holds a LOT of water for me. This is to offset the sucktastic Ikea-competing assembly book.  :)

    Stroll and roll,

(oh, and pee.ess.: it fits in my tiny Mazda3, which is our primary vehicle. It folds flatter than my Graco monster single)
