I work 24 hours per week on evenings and weekends. DH watches the boys while I work. Its tough b/c I rarely have time to myself or with DH, but it works for us right now, and we don't have to pay for childcare.
We kept ours out of daycare until 5 months old. I cared for them the first 7 weeks. DH did the next month. His mom and my mom shared the next three months.
They went into daycare Jan 2nd. Lasted 7 weeks total - but only made it the entire week for the first three weeks. Weeks 4-7 they both missed at least three days for illness/fever. The last week they caught RSV. DS ended up in the hospital for one week and was trasnferred to a children's hospital critical care unti mid hospital stay. DD got it less severe and only required a 10 hour ER trip.
Then we hired a nanny and have scarcely been sick since.
It's not easy but you will determine what is best for your family.
i went back to work but in a job share/PT role - my older son goes to daycare 3days/week. My twins go to daycare 2 days/week and on the weeks that i work a 3rd day my mom watches the twins that day.... which saves us like $500/month not to have the twins in 3 days each week.
I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.
I went back to work full time at 12w. They've been at an in-home ever since. They'll be 18 months after the first of the year, and we'll send them to a center. They need more space, structure, and schedule than they're getting now.

DH and I both went back to work part time at first, so one of us was at home or my pparents helped out if we were both working. At 5 months we both went back full time and LOs went to daycare. They're in a preschool-style toddler daycare now, which we love.
Wondering why there wasn't an option of "went back to work and use a daycare" because that is what we do. I went back to work when they were 16 wks old and they have been in daycare 5 days a week since.
I went back to work at 4 months, and they split their time between daycare (3 days/week) and MIL (2 days/week). I get every other Friday off and on those weeks, they only go to DC for 2 days.
I will be going back to work at the end of Jan when the babies are 4 months old. I will be working mon-Thur but doing 36 hrs. So glad i got it worked out to take fridays off! We are hiring a nanny-have been interviewing the past 2 weeks.

I am going back to work full time January 3. The babies will be 5 months old. DD1 will go to daycare full time and we hired a nanny to take care of the babies until they turn 1, then they will go to daycare with DD1. Sure isn't gonna be cheap!!
I went back to work at 13 weeks full time, and they went to a day care center. I found one that cut me a great deal, and I liked the security of not having to cover if someone else was sick (with nanny or my mom).

Ditto! Except I went back when they were 17 weeks old.

I went back to work when the boys were 6 weeks old. My MIL and mom each watch them one day a week, then we take them to an in-home care provider 3 days a week. Works out great for us! We could not afford both for 5 days a week!

I cut back my hours at work and M works the night shift at his unit (military) and stays home when I'm working. Its hard, but it was important for us to keep them home. We're moving in 2 months and I'm staying home full time then.
I put nanny. We went back to work but I only work 20-30 hours a week and DH works 24 hours on 48 hours off. So We have a nanny but she's not here a lot.

I voted SS because I went back to work and we just have daycare (no nanny or family) and it's worked great for us.

I put special snowflake because I went from working full time to part time (one 12 hour shift per week). My parents or DH watch them while I am at work.
DW went back to work at 14w. Our moms are watching them now (2 and 3 days/week). When MIL goes home (1500 miles) in Jan, they'll go to day care 3 day/week and to my mom's 2x/week until mobile (probably late spring since I think crawling will end it), then they'll go to day care FT. We're going with a small center as it is much cheaper, but I'm not 100% sold, so if I'm not thrilled when we're there 3days/week, we'll move to the nicer one ($$) when they go FT.
My mat leave was a year long. I just went back to work part-time the end of September. I work 2 or 3, 12 hour shifts/week. My husband works 4, 10 hour shifts/week Mon-Thurs. My IL's or my Mom take care of the kids on the days I'm working during the week. Otherwise, if I'm working a weekend, my husband obviously takes care of his kids. We are putting them in daycare 2 days/week (Tues and Fri) starting in January. I'm in need of a break from them and they're in need of a break and some socializing away from me.

I was on maternity leave the first 3 months, then my mom and MIL watched them for 3 weeks until we finally got in off the wait list at the daycare near my office. Now they are in daycare FT and DH and I both work FT.
when I first went back at 16 weeks we had a family friend watch them in her home for a year...then they went to an inhome (where they are now) and we will likely be starting them 2 days a week in a more structured center-based program (and they will continue the other 2 days with their current inhome)
I started with a nanny but that fell apart rather quickly. So they have been in an in home daycare since they were 5mths old and will be there until they turn 3 and I will send them to preschool. they go full time, 5 days a week

This, my DH took 9 weeks off when I went back to work. They started daycare at just shy of six months.
I way on maternity leave with them for the first 4 months then they went to daycare and My DH and I work full time and the kids go to daycare full time.
We rarely have any help, closest family is 2 hours away.

DH and I both work FT and girls are in DC right by my work. It'd be really nice if we had family around, but for now we have to deal with it.
