French gov't not allowing name: Daemon (Damon)

Apparently the parents are Vampire Diaries fans but wanted to "french-ify" so added the e in it.

I think the name is just fine. We even considered it for DS (but chose Dominic instead)

It would be one thing if they were naming the kid 'Vampire'.

I am also a vampire diaries fan, so I can feel where they are coming from because Ian Somerhalder is pretty darn hot!

    Damon, how ever its spelled, just plain creeps me out.

    Damon means to tame.  Daemon started out meaning a good spirit.  The meaning changed over time to be evil spirit or demon.  Why would anyone want to name their kid "demon?"  Damon is fine.

    I agree. I don't dare what the meaning is, too many people associate it with demon because it sounds and looks similar. No thank you.

    BFP #3: 10/2011 ectopic 11/2011 (right tube removed, learned left tube was probably nonfunctional due to scar tissue from infection after m/c)

    3 failed IUIs, IVF #1: 18R, 12M, 10F, 3 poor quality 5d embryos transferred= BFP #4!!!!!

    Betas: 9dp5dt: 64 ~14dp5dt: 91 (expecting miscarriage, doubling time of 236 hours) ~16dp5dt: 200~18dp5dt: 500

    First Ultrasound at 6w2d revealed two sacs, only one with a heartbeat

    LK arrived after 42 weeks on August 14, 2013! Beautiful, healthy, and happy!

    TTC#2: IVF booked for April 2015

    Surprise BFP#5 February 19, 2015 EDD: November 2, 2015

    Betas: 10dpo: 10, 14dpo: 77, 17dpo: 270

    First Ultrasound at 5w1d showed a miracle UTE baby! And right ovary ovulation to left fallopian tube.

    JD arrived at 38 weeks on October 20, 2015.

    I was just recently warned that they are strange about names here. The French government reserves the right to supress any names they don't see fit....and apparently if you haven't a name for your baby within 3 days, they name it for you. Not even kidding.

    Daemon is the German word for "Demon". That probably has something to do with it.

    Although, if someone else (who wasn't my DH) tried to name or even touch my baby without my permission, I would freaking kill them! >:-(
